In November of 2017, CCRO had to temporarily discontinue sampling between Lower and Middle bogs on the Coonamessett River due to a large scale cranberry bog restoration. Over the course of the last 5 months, crews have been hard at work building a new channel, creating a more natural topography on the bog surface and removing the dam at the downstream extent! The removal of this dam gives migratory fish like river herring, eels and brook trout free passage between the estuary and the Middle Bog dam for the first time in over 300 years! We at the CCRO are happy to announce that restoration is complete, construction is wrapping up and we can now sample CR-1 again!
